Grounded in extensive field experience and driven by a rights-based approach, HFCF has been instrumental in developing innovative, inclusive models that uphold the safety, dignity, and holistic development of children in diverse contexts.
Our programs feature a child-friendly, education-centred curriculum enriched with eco-friendly learning tools, focusing on remedial education, wellness, life skills education, teacher training, school readiness program and robust child protection measures through our Anganwadi, Schools and Child Care Institutes (Orphanages).
In March 2023, in partnership with the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), we advanced inclusive education and strengthened the infrastructure of rural and urban Anganwadis in Pune. Through our Child-Friendly Anganwadi initiative, we enhance early childhood education in collaboration with parents and communities, while promoting school readiness to ensure a smooth transition for children as they embark on their journey into formal schooling.
Our teacher Training program for Anganwadi Sevika includes sessions on nutrition, hygiene, and cognitive development, capacity building of Anganwadi sevikas while integrating play-based learning, storytelling, and hands-on activities.
We also focus on infrastructure upgrades, facility refurbishment, and provision of books, toys, and learning materials, along with health initiatives such as medical check-ups, ensuring that every child has the environment needed to grow, learn, and flourish.
Our work extends beyond infrastructure to capacity building for teachers, parents, and students, ensuring that all stakeholders are equipped to support quality education and student well-being. We also develop and implement Child Protection Policies and Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) measures, including the establishment of Internal Complaints Committees.
To empower children and their communities, we provide training in safety, hygiene, legal awareness, and systems, while promoting community development through awareness campaigns. Together, these efforts create sustainable, child-friendly learning environments where every student can thrive.
In partnership with the Department of Women and Child Development (DWCD), we support the strengthening of Child Care Institutes (CCIs) across Pune District to ensure they are safe, nurturing, and truly child-friendly. These institutions are lifelines for vulnerable children, providing secure housing, nutritious meals, and structured rehabilitation programs.
Our comprehensive support includes capacity building on child protection laws, development of child-friendly practices, educational initiatives, counselling services, life skills training and infrastructural support that build confidence and independence and rehabilitation through skill development. By empowering CCIs with the knowledge, tools, and resources they need, we enable them to deliver Child-Friendly care and rehabilitation.
